Rene Y Rene) were a male Latin pop duo from Laredo, Texas consisting of Rene Ornelas (b. August 26, 1936) and Rene Herrera (October 2, 1935 - December 20, 2005). Prior to forming Rene & Rene, both Ornelas and Herrera had been members of the Casa Blanca Quartet and the Quarter Notes (the latter not to be confused with the Buffalo, New York instrumental rock band that had a hit in 1959 with "Record Hop Blues").
Rene & Rene made their chart debut in 1964 with "Angelito," a song co-written by Ornelas and Herrera sung in both Spanish and English.
This hit was followed in 1968 by their best known song, the sweet "Lo Mucho Que Te Quiero (The More I Love You)," a Top 20 hit also co-written by Ornelas and Herrera with both Spanish and English lyrics. The duo later also had minor hits with "Las Cosas" (1969) and "Love Is For The Two Of Us" (1970).
